Cedar Surgery or Brush Sculpting is the controlled and planned process of eliminating some competing species of woody plants and trees in an effort to open up a property for increased landowner enjoyment. Through brush sculpting, or brush thinning, a land owner can open up valuable recreational space in an effort to increase water yields to springs, seeps, and creeks that stimulate native grasses and nourish wildlife. Selective Cedar Surgery is also useful for opening up around large specimen oaks.
We have the equipment to surgically remove individual trees whether we use a cedar shear that snips the trees off at ground level, hand labor, or a forestry mower that grinds the trees and brush in place. Either method preserves your oaks, many desirable species like larger mountain laurels, persimmons, hackberries, attractive cedars, and the Texas Madrone.
